Getting you small business on Facebook can be a huge benefit to your bottom line no matter what sort of business you are in. Be it a brick and mortar store selling products, a service business, a trade, an online website based business or anything else Facebook offers you the chance to find and engage current and potential customers with little effort and at no cost.

The problem with Facebook, as many jokes and quips will point out, is you can waste a stunning amount of time on the site and get nothing accomplished. This goes doubly so for the small business or website owner. After all you have a business to run and can’t spend all day screwing around online! The most important thing you can do in streamlining the process of making a Facebook Page for your small business is something you do before even going to the site.
Answer this question as specifically as you can: What do I want this Facebook Page to accomplish?
Sounds simple, right? The general answer is probably something like, "Make more sales!" or "Get more Customers!" But look at it from a very basic level. At the end of a day, week or month how will you measure the return of investment in time you make on Facebook? What will you be able to point to and say to yourself, "See? Right there. That makes it worthwhile to keep doing this?"
Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is a legion of loyal Facebook Fans who come back again and again to buy your product or use your services. Here are some examples that might get you thinking.
Let’s take a small Pizza Shop and assume that Tuesday night has always been the slowest night for pizza delivery in his town which makes it the worst day for sales. The Pizza Shop owner may use his Facebook Page to find Fans and offer special Facebook only discounts on Tuesday nights to them. Maybe it’s a free order of bread sticks, or a free bottle of Coke or super fast delivery. Something he can do to both reward those folks for being Fans and to help improve his business in a specific way.
Let’s take a Real Estate agent who is looking for more listings in a specific part of town. They may get a page going and build up fans by specifically targeting people and businesses in that area. To work on earning business they might offer a free Market Analysis or up to date information on the real estate market in that very specific part of town. As that agent becomes the expert in that area him/her as the "Go-To" person for their real estate needs.
Make a small and specific goal starting out when building a Facebook Page for your small business. Everything takes time and as your Fan base grows and their level of trust in you increases you’ll see results. Stick to it!
